The Therapy Process

The First step

Taking that first step to contact a therapist can be daunting. It’s also important to take the time to find the right therapist for you. Someone you feel you can trust. I may or may not be the right person for you.

I offer a 20-minute discovery session either face to face, online or on the phone where you can get an initial impression of who I am and whether you feel I might be the right therapist for you.

Please feel free to get in touch either using the contact form, or via email: stedmantherapy@gmail.com.

Next step

If we agree to work together, we will contract to meet for an agreed number of sessions, ideally on a weekly basis. Towards the end of these sessions, we will review how things have progressed. If at this point you feel that you have achieved what you want, we will bring things to a close. If, however, you would like to continue to explore and grow, we will move to an open-ended contract. We will review progress on a regular basis to ensure that therapy remains beneficial for you.

Completion

At some point you will feel that you have achieved what you wanted from our therapeutic relationship, or you may feel that you need a break to let things settle. An "ending" like this is important and can often be used to address previous painful or difficult endings that have been experienced in life. So we will agree on a completion that is as positive, healing and beneficial as possible. The door will remain open if you feel the need to come back at some later point and continue working together.
